[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Samsung Electronics, which has been actively expanding its lineup recently, is expected to launch a 'entry-level' 5G smartphone priced in the 200,000 KRW range within this year.
On the 23rd (local time), IT specialized media PhoneArena reported that Samsung Electronics' 'Galaxy A13 5G (model number SM-A136B)' will be released to the market soon.
Considering that the previous model, the 'Galaxy A12,' was priced at $180 (about 210,000 KRW) in the US and under €170 (about 230,000 KRW) in Europe, the price of the A13 5G is expected to be set below $200 (about 230,000 KRW). There is also speculation that the release could happen within this year. PhoneArena predicted that while flagship models like the 'Galaxy A73' and other next-generation Galaxy A series devices are expected to launch in spring next year, the A13 could be introduced first in November.
Details about the specifications of the A13 5G remain limited. However, it is expected to continue offering high 'cost-effectiveness (performance relative to price)' by featuring a 50-megapixel main camera, following its predecessor. Additionally, the battery is anticipated to maintain the same capacity as the previous model, at 5000 milliampere-hours (mAh).
The A12, released earlier in February, is the lowest-priced budget LTE phone within Samsung Electronics' mid-range 'Galaxy A' series. The A12 features a 6.5-inch large Infinity-V display and is equipped with a MediaTek Helio P35 processor. On the rear, it has a quad-camera setup including a 48-megapixel main camera, a 5-megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 2-megapixel depth camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. Additionally, it comes with a large 5000 milliampere-hour (mAh) battery and supports 15-watt (W) fast charging.
