Honam Lawmakers "Choose Candidate Lee Nak-yeon as the Sure-Win Card for the General Election"

Representing 163 National Assembly members and local councilors from Gwangju and Jeonnam, Lee Gae-ho, a member of the Democratic Party, held an emergency press conference at the Gwangju City Party Office in the afternoon to win over the Honam public sentiment.

They stated, "Candidate Lee Nak-yeon has given up everything to protect the values of the Democratic Party and democracy and has embarked on recreating the administration," and emphasized, "He has been morally verified and recognized for his abilities in all public offices. He is the winning card who can definitely win in the general election, so please unite your strength behind candidate Lee."

They continued, "If the launch of the 4th Democratic government fails in next year's presidential election, the values of the democratic governments that have continued through the Kim Dae-jung, Roh Moo-hyun, and Moon Jae-in administrations will be severed and their achievements will fade," adding, "The ruling of the reactionary conservative forces will cause serious conflicts and confrontations in our society, intensifying conflicts between east and west, confrontation between North and South, social conflicts due to wealth disparity, and public anxiety."

Furthermore, they said, "The choice of Honam led to the victory and governance of the Democratic Party and gave birth to the Kim Dae-jung, Roh Moo-hyun, and Moon Jae-in governments," and requested, "Please choose a candidate who is worthy of the Democratic Party’s name, not a candidate worried about scandals and various gates in the general election, but one who can confidently face and defeat the reactionary conservative candidate."

Finally, they appealed again, "There are two days left for Honam’s choice. The participation of party members and comrades can create the 4th Democratic government again," and urged, "Please write a new history again in Honam and prove that Honam’s choice was great and right."
