Three Companies Selected in Food Ingredients and Semi-Processed Products Contest... Securing 900 Million KRW in National Funding
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonbuk Province announced that three locations?Jeongeup Chilbo Nonghyup Ongdong Pharmaceutical, Namwon Kkumendeul Ijhilliya, and Gochang Wellrun B&F?were selected in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ “2022 Food Materials and Semi-processed Industry Promotion” contest.
The food materials and semi-processed industry refers to the industry that produces food materials such as flour, oil, and food additives used in finished products, as well as semi-processed products like juice extraction, drying, and powdering, supplying them to food and dining companies (B2B).
Jeongeup Chilbo Nonghyup Ongdong Pharmaceutical, selected this time, is a subsidiary established in 1990 by Jeongeup Chilbo Nonghyup. It is a health food company that produces high-quality processed rehmannia root and supplies it to oriental medical institutions and Korea Ginseng Corporation.
In particular, Ongdong Pharmaceutical uses all raw materials supplied from surplus local agricultural products, greatly contributing to the stable income increase of local farmers.
Namwon Kkumendeul Ijhilliya, established in July 2010, is a rural convergence industry certified business with annual sales of 2 billion KRW. It is an eco-friendly food company that has received HACCP certification and organic processed food certification, showing steady growth.
All products produced here use eco-friendly raw materials, with 85% of the main consumers located in the Seoul and Gyeonggi regions.
Additionally, Gochang Wellrun B&F, which opened in 2009 and relocated to Gochang in 2018, is a food manufacturing and processing company specializing in concentrates with annual sales of 3.7 billion KRW based on R&D. It supplies concentrates made from Gochang’s excellent agricultural products as semi-processed raw materials to well-known domestic food companies such as Ilhwa Co., Ltd. and LG Household & Health Care.
Jeonbuk Province expects that with the selection of these three companies in this contest, securing a total of 900 million KRW in national funds, the promotion of the food materials and semi-processed industry will gain momentum.
Accordingly, as many food companies move into the National Food Cluster, the province plans to expand B2B (business-to-business) operations and seek win-win cooperation plans between large-scale food companies and small and medium-sized food companies.
Furthermore, by pre-processing or semi-processing food raw materials required by large-scale food companies and supplying them, the province aims to expand the consumption of local agricultural products and actively foster semi-processing companies for various items to ensure smooth raw material supply linked to the National Food Cluster residency.
