SK Innovation announced that it will hold a 'Global Forum' in San Francisco, USA, on the 2nd of next month to launch a large-scale talent recruitment drive. The event will be expanded from the US to Europe and Japan.
At this Global Forum, SK Innovation will invite a large number of outstanding professionals with expertise in fields the company is focusing on, such as batteries, next-generation batteries, environment, and eco-friendly materials. To this end, the event, which was previously held in New Jersey on the US East Coast, will be relocated to San Francisco, where core technical talent is concentrated.
SK Innovation plans to recruit these talents to drive growth through deep change. The goal is to secure key talent to achieve the 'Carbon to Green' strategy, transforming the petrochemical-centered business structure into a green-centered one.
As this event is aimed at recruiting key personnel, the management will be directly involved. President Kim will explain the blueprint of the green business the company pursues and share the future vision through a presentation to the attendees. Ji Dong-seop, CEO of the Battery Business, will also attend the Global Forum to explain the mid- to long-term vision targeting global top-tier companies. Executives leading the research and development of the company’s core technologies, such as Lee Sung-jun, Director of the Environmental Science and Technology Institute, and Lee Jang-won, Director of the Battery Research Institute, will engage in in-depth discussions with talents about the technologies they are intensively developing.
SK Innovation has achieved results in transforming its business portfolio into eco-friendly sectors, led by the battery and materials businesses. The battery business has already secured an order backlog of 1,000 gigawatt-hours (GWh), placing it among the global leaders. Considering that the order backlog was 60 GWh in 2017, this represents more than a 16-fold growth. The battery business will spin off on the 1st of next month to prepare for a full-scale leap forward.
SK IE Technology, the battery materials company, spun off from SK Innovation in 2019, and within two years, it proudly secured the number one market share globally in premium lithium-ion battery separators (LiBS). Furthermore, it successfully completed its IPO in May this year, enhancing its status as a battery materials stock.
President Kim said, "The company's competitiveness begins with securing excellent personnel," adding, "We will definitely achieve the completion of our financial story and the corporate value innovation strategy 'Carbon to Green' by hiring key talents who will lead the future."
