[Asia Economy Reporter Seoyoung Kwon] British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has officially acknowledged for the first time that he has six children.
On the 21st (local time), Sky News UK reported that Johnson, who visited the United States to attend the UN General Assembly, revealed this in an interview with NBC. When asked, "Is it true that you currently have six children?" Johnson replied, "Yes."
Johnson also responded to the question, "How is it to become a father while serving as Prime Minister?" by saying, "It's really wonderful." He added, "I have a lot to do, but it's really great," and "I want people to know that I change a lot of diapers."
Sky News noted that since Johnson has consistently avoided discussing his private life, there has been confusion about how many children the Prime Minister has. Previously, ahead of the 2019 general election, Johnson refused to answer questions about the number of his children during a radio appearance.
Johnson has four children with his ex-wife Maria Wheeler, and it is known that he has an illegitimate child with art consultant Helen Macintyre in 2009. He divorced Wheeler in 2015, and in April last year, he had a son named Wilfred with his fianc?e Carrie Symonds, who is 24 years his junior.
Johnson and Symonds were married in May, and another child is expected to be born later this year. Sky News reported, citing a former Conservative Party communications director, that Mrs. Johnson is expected to give birth to their second child around Christmas this year.
