Hyundai Ioniq 5 Wins 2021 IDEA Design Award 'Gold'

[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Hyundai Motor Company's first dedicated electric vehicle, the Ioniq 5, has won the top prize at the IDEA Design Awards, one of the world's three major design awards.

Hyundai Motor announced on the 22nd that it and its Genesis brand won a total of three awards, including one Gold at the '2021 IDEA Design Awards.'

Hyundai's dedicated electric vehicle Ioniq 5 received the highest honor, the Gold award, in the Automotive and Transportation category, while the Hyundai Blue Link app and the Genesis infotainment system won Finalist awards in the Digital Interaction category.

Previously, the concept car 45, which previews the design of the Ioniq 5, had already raised expectations by winning the Bronze award in the Automotive and Transportation category at last year's IDEA Design Awards.

The Hyundai Blue Link app has now won all three of the world's major design awards, including the 2021 iF Design Award and the Red Dot Award, as well as the IDEA Design Award. The Genesis infotainment system also received recognition for its user-friendly technology and design competitiveness by winning the IDEA Design Award following its earlier receipt of the iF Design Award main prize earlier this year.

Lee Sang-yup, Executive Vice President in charge of design at Hyundai Motor, said, "We looked back on Hyundai Design's 45-year journey with customers to create something new," adding, "Through the Ioniq 5, we strived to realize a timeless design that connects the past, present, and future."
