According to the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team on the 21st, the number of new first-dose vaccinations the previous day was 21,683, and the number of completed vaccinations was 9,572.
The total number of new first and second dose vaccinations the previous day was 31,255, significantly decreasing for two consecutive days following Sunday’s 45,211. On the weekend of the 18th, the number was 578,680.
This was due to some entrusted medical institutions and vaccination centers being closed or operating on reduced hours because of the holiday and Chuseok holiday.
Looking at the number of new first-dose vaccinations by vaccine type, Moderna accounted for 13,338, Pfizer 8,328, Janssen 16, and AstraZeneca (AZ) 1.
As of midnight that day, the cumulative number of first-dose vaccinations in Korea was 36,527,829, corresponding to 71.1% of the total population (51,349,116 as of last December). The first-dose vaccination rate among those aged 18 and over was 82.7%.
Among the cumulative first-dose recipients, Pfizer accounted for 19,749,504, AstraZeneca 11,086,402, and Moderna 4,276,519.
Janssen accounted for 1,415,404. People who received the Janssen vaccine, which requires only one dose, are included in both the first and second dose vaccination figures.
The number of people who newly completed the second dose the previous day was 9,572.
By vaccine type, Pfizer accounted for 7,989, Moderna 1,557, and AstraZeneca 10.
The total number of people who completed AstraZeneca vaccination was 95, among whom 85 received AstraZeneca for the first dose and Pfizer for the second dose as a cross-vaccination.
The total number of people who completed both doses increased to 22,185,000. This corresponds to about 43.2% of the population and 50.2% among those aged 18 and over.
The cumulative number of completed vaccinations by vaccine type was AstraZeneca 1,319,660 (including 1,585,896 cross-vaccinations), Pfizer 9,434,910, Moderna 1,010,526, and the rest were Janssen recipients.
By gender, among 25,746,790 women, 11,483,792 completed vaccination, accounting for 44.6%. Among 25,602,326 men, 10,696,708 completed vaccination, accounting for 41.8%. The first-dose vaccination rate was 72.6% for women and 69.7% for men.
By age group, the completion rate was highest among those in their 70s at 89.4%, followed by those in their 60s at 87.3%, and those aged 80 and over at 79.7%. For other age groups, where vaccination started relatively late, the rates were 46.0% for those in their 50s, 33.7% for those in their 30s, 29.2% for those aged 18?29, 29.0% for those in their 40s, and 0.2% for those aged 17 and under.
The number of people who received leftover vaccines the previous day was 1,070 for the first dose and 3,161 for the second dose.
