Kato Katsunobu, Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary, held a regular press conference that morning and announced that Prime Minister Suga will visit the United States from the 23rd to the 26th to attend the Quad summit.
Secretary Kato explained, "Through attending this meeting, Japan will have frank discussions among leaders on common global challenges such as COVID-19, and will promote a free and open Indo-Pacific."
Meanwhile, regarding whether Prime Minister Suga will hold bilateral talks with other leaders during this visit to the United States, Secretary Kato stated, "I understand that arrangements are currently underway, including a Japan-US summit."
