[Asia Economy Reporter Geum Bo-ryeong] On Chuseok day, the 21st, the conservative opposition raised their voices criticizing the government and ruling party, clearly expressing their determination for a regime change.
On the same day, Heo Eun-ah, the chief spokesperson of the People Power Party, stated in a commentary, "In the upcoming National Assembly audit, we will thoroughly investigate the true nature of the Moon administration, and in next year's presidential election, we will present a clear alternative that the people can trust."
She particularly pointed out the problems of the government and ruling party. Spokesperson Heo said, "Due to the fourth wave of COVID-19, people cannot freely meet their beloved family and hometown friends. Even when they manage to gather, worries about employment, securing a home, and national security bring more sighs than smiles. Especially, self-employed people say that the Chuseok peak season has disappeared, and they are more fearful of the period after Chuseok as they see no end to the tunnel," she criticized.
Heo also said, "Despite this, the current ruling power prioritizes regime extension over the people's suffering. They are obsessed with the 'media gag law,' which has nothing to do with people's livelihood, and are fervently engaged in political maneuvers suspected of involving the National Intelligence Service's interference in the presidential election," adding, "Many people probably wished upon this year's full moon for the 'end of the Moon administration's mismanagement.'"
She then said, "We will humbly accept the public sentiment of Chuseok," and "The People Power Party will return hope to the people like the full moon of Hangawi (Korean Thanksgiving Day)."
On the same day, Ahn Hye-jin, spokesperson for the People's Party, also released a statement criticizing the government and ruling party, saying, "The so-called K-quarantine, which is neither scientific nor rational, has only demanded sacrifices from the self-employed and small business owners and is now in an unsustainable situation, yet without any strategy or measures, it remains stagnant," and "Although the livelihoods are on the brink of extinction, the regime obsessed solely with recreating itself is engrossed in legal loophole competitions, causing only distress to the people."
Spokesperson Ahn continued, "The People's Party will not tolerate an unfair world and will embrace the people's hearts, listen more carefully, and move forward for a clean society where common sense is natural," emphasizing, "We will give dreams to the youth and create an opportunity for the nation to become a future scientific powerhouse."
