[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The Dementia Safety Center in Namdong-gu, Incheon recently announced on the 19th that three CU convenience stores in the area (Seochang Green Branch, Mansu 4-dong Branch, Ganseok Traum Branch) have been designated as 'Dementia Safety Franchise Stores.'
Dementia Safety Franchise Stores are individual businesses whose members have all received dementia partner education and actively participate in building a dementia safety network, with the aim of creating a sociocultural environment where elderly dementia patients can live with peace of mind.
When elderly dementia patients wander or visit the convenience stores, these stores understand how to interact with them and assist in the process of reporting to 112 and guiding them back to their families.
A Namdong-gu Public Health Center official stated, "Dementia is a challenge that we all must overcome together, and the community must maintain continuous interest and work on improvements," adding, "Through the designation of Dementia Safety Franchise Stores, we expect participation in activities to improve dementia awareness and to play a companion role for dementia patients and their families."
