Why Dongdaemun-gu Launches Special Inspections of Public and Open Restrooms During Chuseok Holiday?

From the 13th to the 19th, the responsible public officials directly visited 31 public restrooms and 30 privately opened restrooms in Dongdaemun-gu to clean the restrooms, inspect hygiene conditions such as damage to sanitary equipment, and check whether convenience items like toilet paper and soap were well stocked.

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yu Deok-yeol) is conducting a special safety and hygiene inspection of public and open restrooms for one week from the 13th to the 19th in preparation for the expected increase in users during the Chuseok holiday.

Responsible officials will directly visit 31 public restrooms and 30 privately operated open restrooms within Dongdaemun-gu to check the cleanliness, hygiene equipment damage, and verify whether convenience items such as toilet paper and soap are properly stocked.

In addition, they will thoroughly check safety conditions including disinfection and sterilization, confirm the proper operation of emergency bells, and inspect for illegal camera installations. To accurately detect illegal cameras, specialized equipment will be used, and if any installation traces are found, an investigation will be requested from the police station.

The district office stated that immediate action will be taken for any public restrooms found to have issues during the inspection, and for private open restrooms, managers will be asked to take corrective measures. They also plan to provide support supplies on a quarterly basis with differentiated distribution.
