[Asia Economy Reporter Joselgina] Samsung Electronics' next flagship smartphone, the 'Galaxy S22,' is expected to be the smallest smartphone in the Galaxy lineup released in recent years. It will be shorter, narrower, and thinner than Apple's iPhone 13.
According to industry sources on the 19th, IT tipster Ice Universe recently revealed on his Twitter that the S22's screen size is 6.06 inches. In another tweet, he stated that the S22 will be Samsung Electronics' smallest flagship phone in recent years.
The last time Samsung released a flagship smartphone with a screen smaller than 6 inches was the Galaxy S10e in 2019. The Galaxy S20 released last year had a 6.2-inch screen, and the Ultra model had a 6.9-inch screen. The Galaxy S21 is similarly sized.
IT specialist media SamMobile reported, "Excluding the foldable Galaxy Z Flip3, it is the most compact flagship phone, but the S22 to be released next year could be even smaller," adding, "With thin bezels, it could be as small as the S10e. It will be close to Samsung's 'mini' flagship." However, the media added that it will not be a true mini smartphone like the iPhone Mini.
Additionally, the S22's battery capacity is expected to be limited to 3700mAh. Ice Universe confirmed, "That is true." This is less than the S21's 4000mAh.
Earlier, major foreign media reported that the S22 Ultra model will support up to 45W fast charging. The under-panel camera (UPC) technology, first applied in the 3rd generation foldable phone 'Galaxy Z Fold3,' is not expected to be included. It is also reported that there will be no significant design changes compared to the S21. Samsung Electronics is known to begin mass production of the S22 around November.
