[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] On the first day of the Chuseok holiday, the 18th, a series of leisure boat accidents occurred in the coastal waters of Incheon, resulting in the rescue of 8 crew members.

According to the Incheon Coast Guard, at around 10:18 AM that day, a report was received that vessel A (1.05 tons) was sinking 4.5 nautical miles (approximately 8.3 km) southwest of Muui-do, Incheon.

The Coast Guard immediately dispatched three patrol boats and rescued all 4 people on board the vessel.

They then began dewatering operations on vessel A, but as the amount of water did not decrease, the Incheon Coast Guard rescue team installed lift bags and reinforced the connecting ropes to tow vessel A.

Earlier that day, at 9:45 AM, vessel B (1 ton, 4 crew members) experienced engine failure near Deokjeok-do, Ongjin-gun, but was safely towed to a safe area by the dispatched patrol boats.

An official from the Incheon Coast Guard stated, "In preparation for leisure boat accidents during the Chuseok holiday, patrol boats and rescue boats have been deployed forward to coastal waters, maintaining an emergency rescue posture."
