Police Send Health Association President to Prosecutors for Candlelight Protest Against Quarantine Policy

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] The president of the Korea Fitness Managers Association, a corporation accused of violating quarantine rules by holding candlelight protests against the government's quarantine policies, has been referred to the prosecution.

According to the police on the 17th, the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul applied charges of violating the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act and sent Kim Seong-woo, president of the Korea Fitness Managers Association, to the prosecution.

On January 10, Kim held a candlelight protest in front of the Democratic Party office in Yeongdeungpo-gu to oppose the government's health club quarantine guidelines. Although the protest was reported as a gathering of nine people, about 300 people gathered after seeing related posts on social networking services (SNS), leading the police to investigate Kim.

After the police investigation, Kim informed the members of the 'Health Managers Meeting' cafe he operates about the incident and expressed his opposition.
