SK Hynix to Recruit Young Artists for 'Climate Change Exhibition'…Total Prize Money 25 Million KRW

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] SK Hynix announced on the 17th that it will hold a contest with a total prize of 25 million KRW for young artists to organize a 'Climate Change Exhibition' in November. The submission period is until October 17.

SK Hynix explained that the exhibition and contest were planned to convey its commitment to solving climate change issues to stakeholders and to support young artists who lost opportunities to exhibit due to COVID-19.

The contest theme is "A Future World Overcoming the Climate Change Crisis." Young artists aged 39 or younger who are actively working in the visual arts field can apply regardless of genre, including painting, sculpture, installation, photography, and media. Each artist must submit at least two works and can submit up to ten. However, submissions from the general public are restricted to align with the purpose of supporting young artists.

Ten artists selected through the contest will each receive a prize of 2.5 million KRW. The exhibition will be held online in November, focusing on the winning works. SK Hynix is also considering holding an offline exhibition concurrently if social distancing measures are eased.

Kim Yun-wook, Vice President of Sustainable Management at SK Hynix, said, "We hope that the hopeful future reborn through the hands of artists will raise awareness of the need to respond to climate change and also serve as an opportunity for many people to take interest in the art world, which has been marginalized due to COVID-19."
