[Haenam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] The Myeongnyang Marine Cable Car, which crosses over the Uldolmok Strait and offers the ultimate healing experience with the historic excitement of Admiral Yi Sun-sin’s Myeongnyang Battle along with outstanding scenery, opened on the 3rd.

According to Haenam County on the 16th, the Myeongnyang Marine Cable Car departs from Haenam Station, passes over the Uldolmok Strait, ascends Manggeumsan Mountain, and travels one way about 1 km to Jindo Station, with 26 cabins operating back and forth.

Riding in the crystal cabin with a transparent floor, visitors can marvel at the swirling Uldolmok right beneath their feet, feeling both amazement and thrill, while simultaneously experiencing the sensation of climbing a mountain, making it an ideal autumn travel destination and a perfect spot for the upcoming Chuseok holiday trip.

In particular, the roaring sound and swirling waves of the Uldolmok sea, the Jindo Bridge boasting elegant beauty as Korea’s first cable-stayed bridge, and the dazzlingly scattered archipelago shining like jewels create a breathtaking panorama that can be taken in at a glance, making it expected to become a unique domestic travel destination with unrivaled scenery.

Moreover, when combined with the best sunset in the West Sea at dusk, visitors can enjoy a fantastic view incomparable to any other travel spot in Korea.

At the lower terminal, Haenam Station, various convenience facilities are prepared, including a ticket office, boarding area, fish cake and ice cream take-out shops, walnut cookie store, terrace caf?, and a nursery room. The terrace caf? next to the boarding area offers the unique feature of enjoying a cup of coffee before boarding while admiring the Uldolmok healing view.

Additionally, it is connected to the Usuyeong National Tourist Site, which preserves the appearance of the old fortress, commemorating the Myeongnyang Battle, making it an optimal family travel destination to visit with children.

The upper terminal, Jindo Station, is connected to the Jindo Tower, a famous attraction in Jindo, and from the Myeongnyangmaru Observatory on the rooftop, visitors can capture the wide-open beautiful scenery and take the best life shots.

After sunset, the fantastic night view created by the beautiful lights of Jindo Bridge, Uldolmok Skywalk, and Myeongnyang Marine Cable Car has already become famous by word of mouth as a must-see night view spot.

Along with the opening of the Myeongnyang Marine Cable Car, each county is preparing large-scale investments to develop the Uldolmok area into a representative domestic family tourist destination where history, culture, and leisure experiences are possible.

Haenam County plans to invest 5.9 billion KRW to create a historical tourism village with a traditional market street, lawn plaza, and resting areas at the Usuyeong National Tourist Site, while Jindo County plans to invest 5.8 billion KRW to install photo zones, historical stairs, nightscape lighting, and sculptures at the Nokjin National Tourist Complex’s night-themed street and the Yi Chungmugong Victory Park sunset and night view spots.

Despite the impact of COVID-19, a large crowd has gathered since the opening of the Myeongnyang Marine Cable Car, raising expectations that it will become a recommended domestic travel course representing Jeolla Province, and it is expected to rapidly emerge as an essential route for Namdo travel, connecting the two counties of Haenam and Jindo with a special operation course.

Tickets can also be purchased online, allowing easy purchase before visiting.

A representative of the Myeongnyang Marine Cable Car said, “We will continue to do our best for safety and service so that it can become a landmark of Jeollanam-do representing Haenam and Jindo,” adding, “Visitors can enjoy a fantastic view that gives greater emotion than any other domestic travel destination and heal their body and mind tired from COVID-19. We expect one million users annually.”
