No Will Found, Suspected Suicide
[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] A public official in his 30s who worked over 100 hours of overtime each month due to COVID-19 related duties was found dead at his home.
According to the Michuhol Police Station in Incheon and Bupyeong District Office, around 10 a.m. on the 15th, Mr. A, a public official in his 30s affiliated with the Bupyeong District Health Center, was found dead in an apartment in Michuhol-gu, Incheon. Colleagues went to his apartment after he was absent from work and unreachable, and upon finding no sign of him, they reported it to the police.
The police, responding to the report, forcibly opened the entrance door with the fire department and found Mr. A deceased in the living room. It was confirmed that no suicide note was found at the scene.
Mr. A had been assisting with epidemiological investigations related to COVID-19 at the Bupyeong District Health Center, and since the beginning of this year, his monthly overtime hours had exceeded 100 hours due to increased COVID-19 related duties.
He lived alone in the apartment and had reportedly not been in contact with other family members for an extended period.
A police official stated, "Although no suicide note was found, it is highly likely that he died by suicide," and added, "There are no plans to request an autopsy."
