Article 915 of the Civil Act: Abolishing Parental Disciplinary Rights to Promote Positive Parenting Culture!
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, will operate a promotional booth for the ‘Child Abuse Prevention 915’ campaign in the city hall lobby for three days starting from the 15th.
This campaign was organized through collaboration between the city, the Gyeongnam Western Child Protection Agency, and Save the Children to widely publicize the abolition of parental disciplinary rights under Article 915 of the Civil Act this year, promote mutual communication between parents and children, foster understanding and empathy for children, and spread a culture of non-violent positive parenting, thereby creating an environment where children can grow up healthy and happy.
The city is focusing on child abuse prevention and conducting promotions through various content considering the COVID-19 situation. The Child Protection Agency is providing child abuse prevention exhibits, and Save the Children has planned and is exhibiting a photo exhibition titled ‘Draw. 100 Words That Hurt,’ which selects words that hurt children when heard and expresses those feelings through drawings.
Mayor Cho said, “Our society must pay more careful attention and interest to children so that no child is hurt,” adding, “We will strive to cultivate a culture that views and respects children as individuals.”
A city official stated, “Through this promotional exhibition, we expect to change perceptions about corporal punishment and strengthen the bond between parents and children, serving as an opportunity to respect children.”
