An 88-Year-Old Man Sentenced to 2 Years in Prison for Pushing His Wife Out the Window and Assaulting Her After She Refused 'Sexual Contact'

Court: "Unrepentant Attitude... Heavy Guilt" for Husband in His 80s

[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] An 80-year-old husband who assaulted his wife and caused a cerebral hemorrhage after she refused sexual contact was sentenced to prison.

On the 15th, the Incheon District Court Criminal Division 12 (Judge Kang Sana) announced that it sentenced Mr. A (88), who was indicted on charges of special injury, to two years in prison.

The court stated, "The defendant indiscriminately assaulted his spouse, the victim, and even continued to assault her while she was bleeding and collapsed after falling from a window, which makes the crime very serious," adding, "The extent of the victim's injuries is quite severe, and the victim also wants the defendant to be punished."

It continued, "The defendant has previously been investigated and punished several times for charges including sexual assault and forced molestation of the victim," and explained the sentencing by saying, "We also considered the fact that he assaulted the victim harshly again without any remorse."

Mr. A was indicted on charges of injuring his wife, Mrs. B (60), with a blunt weapon at their home in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, around 6:40 p.m. on April 29 of this year.

Mr. A pushed Mrs. B, who was sitting on a window 2.8 meters above the floor and shouting for help, causing her to fall to the ground. After Mrs. B fell outside the window, bleeding and unconscious, Mr. A approached her and assaulted her again with a club. As a result, Mrs. B was diagnosed with acute cerebral hemorrhage due to repeated assaults by Mr. A.

According to the police investigation, Mr. A committed the crime after Mrs. B refused his demand for sexual contact and went into a room, which angered him.

Meanwhile, Mr. A was previously sentenced to one year in prison with a two-year probation at the end of last year for injuring Mrs. B with a weapon.
