[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Seohyun] After the quarantine authorities allowed cross-vaccination with the AstraZeneca (AZ) and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines, there have been continuous reports of various side effects following vaccination. Among these, a complaint stating "My nosebleed has not stopped for three days after getting the vaccine" was posted online.

On the 12th, a post titled "Pfizer 2nd Dose Review" was uploaded on an online community bulletin board. The author wrote, "Why is this happening?" and "I've had a severe nosebleed for several days. It even pours out while I am sleeping." The accompanying photos showed a tissue ball that seemed to have wiped the nosebleed flowing on the bed mattress and a cushion soaked with blood.

Netizens who saw the post suspected "thrombocytopenia" and responded with comments such as "You should probably go to the hospital before writing this," "Get a blood test done quickly," and "If you have a nosebleed for several days after vaccination, isn't it thrombocytopenia?"

Later, the author added a comment to their post, saying, "I received the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine as the first dose. I suffered for about five days at that time. I went to the emergency room due to a fever over 40 degrees Celsius, difficulty breathing, headache, and numbness in my feet," sharing the situation at that time.

They continued, "For the second dose, I received the Pfizer vaccine as a cross-vaccination, and since the 10th (for three days), I have had a nosebleed. I sleep on my side, so the blood flows onto the pillow," adding, "The nosebleed has stopped for now. However, my heart is throbbing, so I should go to the hospital."

Online, there are several posts complaining of side effects such as thrombocytopenia after cross-vaccination with COVID-19 vaccines like Mr. A. On the 18th of last month, a netizen wrote on a Naver cafe, "My mother in her 50s was diagnosed with thrombocytopenia after receiving the AZ vaccine as the first dose and the Pfizer vaccine as the second dose."

Recently, a 57-year-old police officer B in his 50s, who received the AZ vaccine as the first dose and the Pfizer vaccine as the second dose, also showed adverse reactions and died. Officer B, affiliated with the Eumseong Police Station in Chungbuk, received the first AZ vaccine dose in May and the second Pfizer vaccine dose in July.

Afterward, Officer B was hospitalized in the Hematology and Oncology Department at Chungbuk National University Hospital due to adverse reactions and received treatment for about four weeks. However, his condition worsened, and he was transferred to the intensive care unit of a general hospital in Seoul, where he passed away on the 11th.
