'35 Million People's App' PASS, Reborn as an Integrated Authentication Wallet

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] The joint authentication application (app) ‘PASS’ by the three major telecom companies, which has 35 million subscribers, is equipping an all-in-one service called the ‘Authentication Wallet.’

On the 15th, the three telecom companies announced the launch of the ‘Authentication Wallet’ service, which allows users to access various authentication services such as identity verification, PASS certificate, mobile driver’s license, and QR entry pass all at once.

With this launch, users no longer need to search for each authentication method individually when using authentication services through the Authentication Wallet, making it easy and convenient. Previously, each authentication service was organized into separate menus, but now they are consolidated into a single menu.

The Authentication Wallet includes ▲ PASS identity verification available on over 20,000 online sites ▲ PASS certificate usable at financial and public institutions ▲ mobile driver’s license for driver qualification and identity verification ▲ QR entry pass that does not require monthly re-authentication.

To provide a consistent user experience, the PASS app logo and UI/UX, which varied slightly by operator, will also be unified. The standard window for PASS identity verification, a service called by online sites for identity verification, will be simplified. The required input information for identity verification will be reduced, and the input steps will be shortened to less than half. When using PIN or biometric authentication in the app, authentication will be completed automatically without the user needing to click the confirmation button.

In the future, the three telecom companies plan to develop the service into an integrated authentication service by combining authentication services. They also plan to implement a smart ticket service that combines electronic documents, certificates, mobile driver’s licenses, and airline tickets into the Authentication Wallet.
