[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Samsung Electronics will hold the 'Samsung Foundry Forum' online for the first time in two years to introduce its latest foundry (semiconductor contract manufacturing) technology and future vision.
According to the industry on the 14th, Samsung Electronics sent invitations for the 'Samsung Foundry Forum 2021' under the name of Choi Siyoung, President of the Foundry Division, to major clients. This year's forum, themed "Adding Another Dimension," will be held on July 7th, Korea Standard Time.
In the invitation, President Choi said, "Due to the COVID-19 situation and uncertainties, this year's forum will be held online," adding, "We hope this event will be an opportunity to share Samsung's vision, solutions, and technological leadership."
First launched in 2016, the Samsung Foundry Forum is an event where Samsung Electronics introduces the roadmap and new technologies of its foundry business annually in major countries. In 2019, it was held in five countries including the United States, China, Korea, Japan, and Germany, but the forum was not held last year due to COVID-19.
At this forum, President Choi will deliver the keynote speech, and external speakers such as Dario Gil, Senior Vice President and Director of IBM Research, Shara Ravi, Vice President of Semiconductors at Facebook, and Caroline Suard, Vice President of Global Supply Chain at Intel, are expected to attend.
Key executives including Jeong Gitae, Vice President and Head of Technology Development at Samsung Foundry Division, Choi Gilhyun, Vice President and Head of Manufacturing Technology Center, and Shim Sangpil, Vice President and Head of Strategic Marketing, will also attend to introduce the latest technologies and solutions.
