[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The 2nd Drone Technology Symposium, hosted by the Korea Drone Technology Education Council, which includes Dongseo University LINC+ Project Group, major LINC+ project groups nationwide, and Mongolian National University, has come to a close.
The Drone Technology Symposium, now in its second year, was organized to find directions for technology education and industry-academia cooperation for sustainable development among universities, local communities, and industries in the post-COVID-19 era.
The symposium began with a keynote speech from the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, which leads the domestic unmanned aerial vehicle industry.
Following the keynote, the symposium proceeded with thematic presentations by universities and industries based on regional specialization fields, followed by discussions.
The thematic presentations summarized the technology development, workforce training, and capstone design achievements of unmanned aerial vehicles, a convergence of key technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution, by the council’s divisions, and exchanged opinions on modular education and directions for advancing industry-academia cooperation.
At this symposium, participating universities of the council signed MOUs, and a drone technology education UCC contest was held. Additionally, 12 companies nationwide demonstrated advanced domestic technologies, solutions, and services.
The event was conducted as a non-face-to-face webinar. For participants unable to attend in person, it was provided live through the official YouTube channel.
Since the beginning of the year, the Korea Drone Technology Education Council and participating universities have identified demands for technology education and workforce training with major companies nationwide and have discussed joint technology research and mutual cooperation plans.
Based on the achievements of this symposium, from the second half of the year, they plan to actively promote the development and dissemination of joint technology education programs with related organizations and major companies, plan pilot projects for industry-academia-research R&BD, and create an industry-academia cooperation ecosystem, leading domestic unmanned aerial vehicle industry-academia education.
Professor Cho Dae-su of Dongseo University (Chairman of the Korea Drone Technology Education Council) said, “Marking the 2nd anniversary of the council’s establishment this year, Dongseo University LINC+ Project Group and participating universities will continue to provide support to lead regional economic development and job creation through close cooperation with local communities and industries.”
