[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Professor Kim Soon-kyung of the Automotive Department at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology recently won the '21st Essay and Criticism Literary Award.'
Professor Kim Soon-kyung received the 'Essay and Criticism' Newcomer Award in 2016 for "Is the Mountain Pheasant Still Crying There?" Since her debut, she has been actively engaged in literary creative activities. Recently, she has won various contests including the Gyeongnam Newspaper New Year's Literary Contest, the Pohang Steel Essay Contest (2018), and the Gyeongnam Newspaper New Year's Literary Contest (2021). She has also published two essay collections, "Daedaeri Byeolgok" (2017) and "Motang" (2019).
The awarded work is her third essay collection recently published, titled "Gojubaki," which includes a total of 40 essays across five chapters: ▲Gojubaki ▲The Sigh of the Seo Saengwon ▲Human Flower ▲Cheongomabi ▲Reeds Do Not Cry Alone.
Literary critic Kim Jeong-hwa commented, "Her writing contains many wounds from family separations and the hardships of rural life, but paradoxically, it is solid and rich, recreated with warm family love and fundamental humanism."
Professor Kim Soon-kyung said, "I strive to write good pieces consistently, even if it is for just one reader. Although my writing is not yet mature, I hope it can offer some comfort to someone."
Since 1996, Professor Kim Soon-kyung has been serving at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology and has held positions such as Director of the University Startup Incubation Center and Chairman of the Busan-Ulsan-Changwon Startup Incubation Center Council.
Currently, she is the Director of Student Welfare at the university and is active as a member of the Pukyong Essay Writers Association, Busan Writers Association, Busan Essay Writers Association, and the Essay and Criticism Writers Association.
