Youth Shelters Open 24 Hours... Childcare Provided Without 50% Surcharge
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced that during the Chuseok holiday period, the Women’s Emergency Hotline, Family Counseling Hotline, Youth Counseling Hotline, and Childcare Services will be operational, and youth shelters will be open 24 hours.
Childcare services will operate normally for families who find it difficult to care for their children during the Chuseok holiday, such as dual-income or single-parent households who must work. The usual 50% holiday surcharge will not be applied during this Chuseok holiday period.
The Family Counseling Hotline, which provides counseling and support services for single parents, pregnancy and childbirth conflict counseling and information, and psychological counseling for family conflicts, will also operate normally. Counseling is available via phone, text message, and KakaoTalk family counseling channels.
The Family Counseling Hotline offers 'psychological and emotional counseling' services from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. to address family conflicts, depression, stress, and other family issues caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. Multicultural families, including marriage immigrants, can receive 24-hour counseling and information in 13 languages through the Danuri Call Center.
More than 130 youth shelters nationwide are also open and operating 24 hours. They provide emergency living protection (food, clothing, and shelter), psychological counseling, medical institution linkage, and support for reintegration into family and society to prevent runaway youth from wandering the streets. The 1388 Youth Counseling Hotline also operates 24 hours, offering discovery, rescue, counseling, and protection for youth in crisis.
The Women’s Emergency Hotline and Sunflower Center will also operate 24 hours during the Chuseok holiday, providing counseling and emergency protection services to victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, and other forms of violence who need assistance.
