Sejong City to Establish 'Smart Green General Industrial Complex' in Sojeong and Jeonui-myeon

[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] A ‘Smart Green General Industrial Complex’ will be established in the Sojeong-myeon and Jeonui-myeon areas of Sejong.

According to Sejong City on the 13th, the Sejong Smart Green General Industrial Complex will be developed on an 845,000㎡ site in Godeung-ri, Sojeong-myeon, and Eupnae-ri, Jeonui-myeon. The total project cost is 244.3 billion KRW.

The city is currently promoting the construction of an industrial complex access road with a total length of 1.9 km between Godeung-ri, Sojeong-myeon, and Gwanjeong-ri, Jeonui-myeon, with a national budget of 23 billion KRW.

This road is being built to improve accessibility to the industrial complex for resident companies. The city expects that the road opening will reduce logistics costs for companies in the industrial complex and improve accessibility for residents of the support complex, including 964 apartment units and 130 single-family houses in the adjacent residential area.

In particular, once the Sejong Smart Green General Industrial Complex is completed, it will enable mutual growth in connection with the existing northern industrial complexes, and the creation of a support complex will provide a residential environment for industrial complex workers and migrants, playing a positive role in balanced regional development, the city anticipates.

Jo Sang-ho, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs, said, "The Smart Green General Industrial Complex will serve as one axis of the northern industrial complexes after its establishment," adding, "The city will strive to attract large corporations and advanced technology companies to the general industrial complex to create many high-quality jobs.”
