During the event period, each market will offer discounts on ritual items, and provide Onnuri gift certificates or their own gift certificates, along with prize draws, to offer various pleasures to residents visiting the traditional markets.
First, Myeonmok Alley Market (9.8~9.17), Woorim Alley Market (9.13~9.17), and Jangmi Jeil Market (9.13~9.15) will give Onnuri gift certificates for purchases over 30,000 KRW. At Jungnang Dongbu Market (9.13~9.15), Onnuri gift certificates will be given for purchases over 50,000 KRW.

The popular online shopping service for residents is being conducted for six local traditional markets (Dongbu, Dongwon, Myeonmok, Woorim, Sagajeong, Dongwon Shopping District). When shopping online, products can be delivered within two hours. Online shopping is available through Naver’s ‘Neighborhood Market Shopping’, and applications such as ‘Coupang Eats’, ‘Noljang’, and ‘Wemakeprice O’.
Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “Through the traditional market events held for Chuseok, local merchants will gain strength and residents will be able to visit the markets with joy. Also, we hope many people will enjoy the benefits of the Jungnang Love Gift Certificates issued this time and help revitalize traditional markets.”
The district will issue Jungnang Love Gift Certificates worth 10 billion KRW starting at 10 a.m. on the 13th. Individuals can purchase them at a 10% discount within a limit of 700,000 KRW per person and use them at traditional markets.
Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) and Dongdaemun Food Bank Market (Center Director Jang Seong-gi) are operating the ‘Love Sharing Pantry Project’ until September 17th in celebration of Chuseok.
The ‘Love Sharing Pantry Project’ is conducted by residents donating food and daily necessities for Chuseok, which the district delivers to neighbors in need through the Dongdaemun Food Bank Market.
Donatable items include long-lasting foods such as rice, ramen, canned goods, cooking oil, soy sauce, and daily necessities like shampoo, conditioner, soap, and detergent. Frozen and refrigerated foods are excluded due to potential spoilage.
Items can be submitted at the 14 neighborhood community centers or the Welfare Policy Division on the 3rd floor of Dongdaemun-gu Office. Donation bags are available at the 14 neighborhood community centers, and sharing pantry boxes are placed at the Welfare Policy Division of Dongdaemun-gu Office and Hwikyung 1-dong Community Center. Additionally, the district has prepared cards so donors can convey warm messages along with the items to recipients.
The Dongdaemun Food Bank Market has been practicing sharing by providing songpyeon (rice cakes) to low-income residents every Chuseok. This year, it plans to deliver songpyeon to 100 households across the 14 neighborhoods. For more details, inquiries can be made to the Dongdaemun Food Bank Market or the Welfare Policy Division of Dongdaemun-gu Office.
Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “Food, daily necessities, and holiday gift sets shared with warm hearts through the ‘Love Sharing Pantry’ will be a great help to neighbors in need during Chuseok. Although these are difficult times, I hope everyone has a warm Chuseok by embracing neighbors together.”
Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Gyeom-su) will hold promotional events at traditional markets from the 13th to the 19th ahead of Chuseok.
The traditional markets participating in this event include six locations: Suyu, Suyu Traditional, Suyu Traditional Market, Gangbuk Northern Market, Gangbuk General Market, and Jangmiwon Alley Market. Ritual items and popular consumer products will be sold at affordable prices.
Customers who purchase over a certain amount will receive promotional items or Onnuri gift certificates. Receipts must be submitted at designated locations in each market. The event period, giveaway items, and prize details vary by market. Detailed information can be found on the district office website (Our District Introduction - News section).
Additionally, the district has prepared support measures to facilitate convenient and safe shopping. Residents visiting traditional markets will be allowed to park on nearby roads until the 22nd. Parking is limited to within two hours and excludes areas near fire facilities, crosswalks, bus stops, and entry/exit zones.
The district will also tighten COVID-19 prevention measures in anticipation of increased visitors to traditional markets and large stores during the holiday period. Plans include appointing management supervisors, enforcing mask-wearing, and conducting daily regular disinfection. Preventive announcements and tasting events will also be key inspection points.
Park Gyeom-su, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, “The purpose of the promotional event is to achieve both consumption promotion and infection prevention. I hope many residents participate in this event to help revitalize traditional markets.”
Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) will open the ‘2021 Social Economy Online Market’ on the 14th at 3 p.m. in the seminar room of the Dongjak-gu Social Economy Support Center, selling and introducing products and services from the Dongjak Social Economy Network (Dongsa-net) and social economy enterprises in celebration of Chuseok.
Considering the COVID-19 situation, the event will minimize on-site personnel and be conducted through live commerce and promotional videos on the ‘Dongjak-gu Office YouTube’ channel.
The products for sale include traditional fermented soybean paste, Kampo cutting boards, coffee beans, rice cake gift sets, massage gift certificates, and more, with prices ranging from 2,800 KRW to 77,000 KRW. A 5,000 KRW discount event will be held for the first 20 customers purchasing massage gift certificates.
The ‘Online Social Economy Market’ is promoted to support social economy enterprises struggling due to COVID-19 by helping them develop sales channels and promote their products, contributing to the activation of the social economy.
The district planned the event to establish a cooperative system and activate networks among local enterprises by hosting an event led by social economy enterprises.
Ten local enterprises participating in the event will sell their products and promote their companies.
Purchases can be made by contacting the enterprises directly via their representative phone numbers, and further details can be obtained from the Economic Promotion Division.
Kim Jeong-won, head of the Economic Promotion Division, said, “We hope this event will help social economy enterprises struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation to develop sales channels ahead of the Chuseok holiday.”
Gangnam-gu (Mayor Jung Soon-gyun) will hold the ‘Anti-Graft Act Online Quiz Event’ for five days starting from the 13th through the Gangnam-gu Office website and KakaoTalk channel.
The integrity quiz event is held in collaboration with the ‘Gangnam Integrity Society Public-Private Council’ to raise awareness of the Anti-Graft Act ahead of the Chuseok holiday and to create a clean local community shared by public officials and residents.
The integrity quiz consists of O and X questions related to the gift and meal regulations of the Anti-Graft Act, which all public officials, civil petitioners, and residents should know.
Anyone can participate through the Gangnam-gu Office website and KakaoTalk channel, and among those who answer correctly, 500 people will be selected by lottery to receive mobile coffee vouchers.
Hong Kyung-il, Audit Officer, said, “Integrity is a promise that all members of society must keep. Through this integrity quiz event, we will strengthen our commitment to integrity and take the lead in creating a corruption-free, clean Gangnam.”
