As the use of KakaoTalk notification messages increases, the sales of small and medium-sized dealer companies are also growing.
According to Kakao on the 10th, the sales of 12 notification message dealers such as BizTalk, Sweet Tracker, and MTS Company in the first half of this year increased by 44% compared to the previous year. A Kakao official explained, "The sales proportion of small and medium-sized dealers accounts for 61% of the total sales of notification message dealers, indicating a clear business expansion centered on small and medium-sized companies."
Dealers act as intermediaries that link and operate the notification message interface (API) provided by Kakao with the systems of companies or public institutions that are the sending entities. The existing corporate message market based on text messages had a structure where it was difficult for small and medium-sized dealers to grow due to direct contracts with telecommunications companies, but Kakao adopted a dealer-centered contract method to enable dealers to secure stable profits.
Kakao analyzed that these results appeared due to dealer-centered policies, the security and convenience of notification messages, and affordable prices. Unlike regular KakaoTalk chat bubbles, notification messages feature a ‘verification mark’ that reduces recipients’ concerns about smishing and phishing, and also allow consultations and information inquiries. They are 20-60% cheaper than existing text services, leading to an increase in adoption by public institutions recently. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety expects to save 4 billion won annually through notification messages.
A dealer company official said, "As the types of messages and the entities utilizing them diversify, the corporate message market itself is expanding," adding, "We hope that an environment will be created where small and medium-sized businesses can operate broadly through the expansion of industries that can use notification messages."
