[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Bo-ryeong] Choi Jae-hyung, former head of the Board of Audit and Inspection and a presidential candidate from the People Power Party, raised his voice against Lee Hae-chan, former leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, saying, "This kind of politics must disappear." This was a rebuttal to Lee's statement that he had received a tip-off last year before the general election that the Board of Audit and Inspection was preparing a 'plot.'
On the 9th, Choi said on Facebook, "After coming to Yeouido, I physically felt the level of politics in the Republic of Korea," and added, "Now I understand why Representative Kim Jong-in dropped (Lee) from the nomination in the 20th general election."
Choi continued, "I am learning a lot. How long must our people endure this level?" and emphasized, "It must change now. I will show political reform not in words but in actions."
Lee appeared on TBS radio on the 7th and said, "When I was party leader, I received reports that about three plots were underway," adding, "It seemed that the Board of Audit and Inspection was preparing one, and the prosecution was preparing two. This time, it appears that those two were one (the allegation of the prosecution's report-for-prosecution scandal involving former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl) and the other was the Yoo Si-min case."
In response, Choi expressed regret on KBS radio the previous day, saying, "I deeply regret that (Lee) made such groundless and defamatory remarks," and added, "Considering the political weight and responsibility, I hope he would make more responsible statements."
