Huanqiu Shibao reported on the 9th that the Huangpu District government is recruiting talent for 14 positions regardless of nationality to develop the GBA, and about 100 experts have already submitted applications.

The positions being recruited include urban planning and construction, architectural engineering, and other smart city development fields, according to the media. The recruitment is open regardless of nationality, and applicants with more than eight years of experience in the relevant fields are eligible to apply. Applications are accepted until the 25th of this month, and the annual salary is over 2 million yuan, the media added. Considering that China's per capita gross national product (GNP) is around 10,000 USD, this is a significant amount.

Huangpu District is also recruiting 10 PhD holders in smart city administration, smart transportation, artificial intelligence (AI), and related fields.

The Chinese government has announced the GBA project, which aims to integrate nine cities in Guangdong Province, including Hong Kong, Macau, and Shenzhen, into an economic and technological special zone by 2035. This region has a population of 69 million and a gross domestic product (GDP) approaching 1.5 trillion USD. The GBA project reflects ambitions to surpass the US economy by 2035. President Xi Jinping also visited the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone in October last year to support the GBA project.

The State Council of China has also designated six major cities, including Guangzhou and Shenzhen, as pilot areas for business environment innovation and announced plans to activate talent recruitment and investment.

Premier Li Keqiang designated Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Chongqing as pilot areas for business environment innovation at the State Council executive meeting the day before. The State Council promised to expand foreign openness, promote investment and construction facilitation, and remove interregional business barriers in these six cities.
