Gyeongsan City Launches Public Delivery App 'Meokkebi' on the 9th

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Gyeongsan City, Gyeongbuk Province announced on the 8th that it will launch the Gyeongbuk public delivery app ‘Meokkebi’ on the 9th.


‘Meokkebi’ is a Gyeongbuk public-private cooperative public delivery app designed to reduce delivery app fees for small business owners by eliminating advertising and promotional costs, thereby easing their management burden.


Operated under the supervision of the Gyeongbuk Economic Promotion Agency with administrative and financial support from Gyeongsangbuk-do and Gyeongsan City, Meokkebi handles app development and operation, while the Korea Foodservice Industry Association supports franchise registration.

Since July, Gyeongsan City has recruited franchisees among local food service businesses, achieving the registration of about 1,000 local small business franchisees within a short period.


Consumers can download and use ‘Meokkebi’ from Google Play or the App Store and make payments using the Gyeongsan Love (愛) Card.


To commemorate the launch of ‘Meokkebi,’ the city is offering a free discount coupon worth 10,000 KRW and provides a 3,000 KRW discount coupon every Sunday (limited to the first 5,000 users), along with various other discount benefits.


Franchise registration can be done by searching ‘Gyeongbuk delivery app’ or ‘Meokkebi’ in a portal site’s search bar and signing up.


Choi Young-jo, Mayor of Gyeongsan City, said, “We will strive to make this a public delivery app where both small business owners and consumers can coexist by reducing the fee burden on small business owners and making it convenient for consumers to use.”
