This Year's First Craft Festival Where Women Craft Entrepreneurs and Lifestyle Crafters Create and Participate Directly
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 7th that the ‘2021 Seoul Women’s Craft Festival 7th Craft Manse Autumn·Craft·Festival’ will be held simultaneously online and offline for three days from the 10th to the 12th at the Seoul Women’s Craft Center The Arieum space and the Seoul Women’s Craft Center Instagram.
Now in its 7th edition, the Seoul Women’s Craft Festival has been continuously operated by the Seoul Women’s Craft Center since its opening in 2017, actively engaging with citizens through crafts and expanding the base of craft culture.
This year’s festival reflects the COVID-19 situation by operating an unmanned market and offering programs that cover both online and offline, such as introducing brands of startup craft artists in online spaces and delivering craft kit boxes.
Visitors to the Seoul Women’s Craft Center can find over 60 different craft products at the unmanned craft market. The unmanned market displays products with assigned numbers, and on-site staff arranged according to the number ranges provide guidance and handle payments. The craft unmanned market held at the craft yard on the first floor of the Seoul Women’s Craft Center will be open from 3 PM to 8 PM on the 10th and 11th. On Sunday, it will operate from 11 AM.
For those who cannot visit in person, the craft sharing delivery service ‘Annyeong Box’ will directly reach 400 Seoul citizens. Annyeong Box is a craft kit box carefully prepared by the Seoul Women’s Craft Center and female craft entrepreneurs, which is delivered to applicants’ homes. Additionally, for citizens interested in craft startups or planning to start a business, a relay lecture titled ‘Craft Startup Story ? Meeting the Protagonists of Craft Toktok’ will be held. This is an opportunity to meet senior craft entrepreneurs and hear honest stories and know-how about their processes.
Kim Ki-hyun, the Gender Equality Policy Officer, said, “We hope that various craft works will help to somewhat heal the hearts of citizens tired from COVID-19 and further expand the market for female craft entrepreneurs.”
