Ministry of Unification: "Continued Efforts to Restore Relations to Make Inter-Korean Anniversaries Meaningful"

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The Ministry of Unification announced that it will continue efforts to resume inter-Korean dialogue so that the anniversaries this month, including the 30th anniversary of simultaneous UN membership by both Koreas, can be meaningfully commemorated.

At a regular briefing on the 6th, Ministry of Unification spokesperson Lee Jong-joo responded to reporters' questions by saying, "Although the conditions are difficult, we will continue efforts to restore inter-Korean relations through various opportunities."

The spokesperson added, "In particular, the 30th anniversary of simultaneous UN membership by both Koreas (on the 17th) and the 3rd anniversary of the September 19 Pyongyang Joint Declaration (on the 19th) are scheduled this month," and stated, "We will strive to ensure that these anniversaries are commemorated meaningfully."
