Gwangju Seobu Fire Station, Disaster Site Response Using Drones

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Seobu Fire Station of Gwangju Metropolitan City (Chief Yang Young-gyu) announced on the 6th that it is actively responding to various disaster sites using unmanned aerial vehicles, drones.

Drones were introduced to enable commanders to observe the scene three-dimensionally in large-scale disaster environments, allowing integrated command, and to assist in smooth search operations over wide areas in case of water-related or mountain accidents, and they are playing active roles at various sites.

As an example of drone utilization, on the 3rd at around 9 PM, a fire broke out in a warehouse near the Kia Motors factory in Seo-gu, and drones were used to check the situation and the progress of fire suppression, enabling smooth extinguishing of the fire.

Yang Young-gyu, Chief of Seobu Fire Station, said, "We will regularly maintain the equipment and conduct education and training to improve operational capabilities so that we can respond more actively to disaster sites using drones."
