KT Develops Secure Public Cloud-Based Remote Work System
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT announced on the 6th that it has developed and is operating a ‘public exclusive cloud (G-Cloud) based remote work system’ that can be used safely and conveniently by local governments and national/public institutions.
The G-Cloud based remote work system was developed to enable unique task execution according to each user’s permissions. It is a solution that meets the National Intelligence Service’s remote work security standards and has also obtained the Cloud Service Security Authentication (CSAP) overseen by the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA). Until now, the VPN-based remote work method used by local governments only allowed access to specific administrative systems, so when unexpected self-quarantine situations suddenly occurred, most tasks had to be handled by the office staff.
KT stated, "KT is the only provider capable of offering integrated services from dedicated line construction to G-Cloud," adding, "Thanks to this, the G-Cloud based remote work system is a safer method than local governments building systems through external linked vendors, and it is characterized by being able to be built at a much lower cost."
All tasks using this system are conducted in a cloud environment. Since no data remains on personal PCs, concerns about administrative document leaks are low. Use of internal messengers is also possible, enabling smooth communication between office workers and remote workers.
Earlier, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province introduced and has been operating KT’s G-Cloud based remote work system since August, becoming the first local government to do so.
Seochangseok, Head of KT’s Jeonnam-Jeonbuk Regional Headquarters (Executive Director), said, “The G-Cloud based remote work solution was developed from the consideration that services for citizens must not be interrupted even in unexpected situations,” and added, “KT will provide strong security and highly efficient traffic management to help local governments protect their employees’ safety while performing smooth public services.”
