E-Land Foundation Partners with Samsung Digital Plaza to Provide Home Appliances to Low-Income Families

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] The E-Land Foundation announced on the 3rd that it has partnered with local governments and Samsung Digital Plaza Jangheung Branch to help vulnerable groups in Jangheung-gun, Jeollanam-do.

The E-Land Foundation, Jangheung County Office, and Samsung Digital Plaza Jangheung Branch signed an agreement on the 1st to support low-income families in the region.

This support agreement was made to assist low-income families who have to balance work, childcare, and housework amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and the rapid shift to a non-face-to-face society by providing home appliances.

Under this agreement, Jangheung-gun is responsible for identifying vulnerable groups in the region, the E-Land Foundation will provide living expenses, housing costs, and medical expenses to the selected families. In addition, Samsung Digital Plaza Jangheung Branch plans to regularly supply home appliances to families in need among the selected recipients.

Recipients of home appliance support include families affected by flooding due to heavy rain, children who have turned 18 under the Child Welfare Act and are preparing for independence after leaving protective facilities, grandparent-grandchild families where elderly grandparents must manage their grandchildren’s education and childcare alone, and single-parent families struggling to balance work and housework.

Kim Wook, director of the E-Land Foundation, said, “This project was initiated as the need for home care and home appliances increased due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic,” adding, “We hope this agreement will improve the quality of life for low-income families in Jangheung-gun.”

Meanwhile, the E-Land Foundation has been conducting an incubating support project for families in crisis in partnership with Jangheung-gun since last year. In addition, in July, it supported home repairs such as wallpapering and flooring worth 20 million won for 14 vulnerable households in Jangheung-gun affected by flooding from heavy rain.
