[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-chul] The Northern Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency announced on the 3rd that "from 9 p.m. on the 2nd, a joint crackdown on drunk driving was conducted for three hours with 13 police stations in the jurisdiction and the highway patrol unit, resulting in the apprehension of 17 individuals."

The Northern Gyeonggi Agency apprehended 7 individuals with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08% or higher, which is the license cancellation threshold, and 10 individuals with a BAC between 0.03% and less than 0.08%, the suspension threshold, at a total of 14 locations including vulnerable drunk driving spots and the Suwon IC on the Metropolitan Area 1st Ring Expressway.

The highest blood alcohol concentration detected among those apprehended was 0.161%.

This crackdown was organized by the Northern Gyeonggi Agency and is conducted regularly twice a month, deploying 195 police officers and 37 vehicles including patrol cars.
