Chorokbaem Media Signs Licensing Agreement with Asia-Based Global OTT... 'Expanding to 17 Countries Worldwide'

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Comprehensive content media company Chorokbaem Media is entering 17 countries worldwide by signing a license contract for OTT and drama broadcasting based in the Asia region.

Chorokbaem Media announced on the 2nd that following the successful exclusive license sale of its own IP drama "One Day (working title)" in Japan, it has signed a pre-sale license contract for broadcasting rights targeting 17 overseas countries including Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and South Africa. "Viu," under the PCCW Group, one of Asia's largest video streaming service providers (OTT), signed a license contract for broadcasting, VOD, and OTT rights for "One Day."

"Viu" is an OTT platform regarded as the Netflix of Asia, operating in 17 countries including Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and the Republic of South Africa. It has aggressively secured content to establish itself as a top OTT in the Asian market, and especially from its early entry, it has continuously expanded licensing contracts for Hallyu content to strengthen its core competitiveness.

A representative from Viu stated, "The fact that 'One Day' stars Kim Soo-hyun and Cha Seung-won, who are well-known to overseas audiences, has attracted global fans' attention even before the broadcast," adding, "We are looking forward to how the characters, centered on Kim Soo-hyun and Cha Seung-won, will unfold the story based on a solid original work and artistic quality." They further added, "'One Day' will be a work that expands the base of Hallyu content and leads the new Hallyu era."

"One Day" is an IP secured by Chorokbaem Media itself and is the first pre-produced work to generate revenue aimed at OTT platforms. Following Coupang Play securing exclusive domestic broadcasting rights, the exclusive license for Japan has also been sold.

"One Day" began filming in April and is scheduled to air at the end of November this year. Starring Kim Soo-hyun and Cha Seung-won, it is evaluated as one of the most anticipated works of the second half of the year, based on director Lee Myung-woo's sophisticated directing and a solid original work. Chorokbaem Media, The Studio M, and Gold Medalist are co-producing the drama.
