[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 31st that it will hold the "Cybersecurity AI and Big Data Utilization Competition," themed on security technologies using artificial intelligence (AI) and big data, from next month 6th to November 19th.
This competition, hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and organized by the Korea Internet & Security Agency, is open to anyone interested in information security, either as an individual or in teams of up to four members. After online preliminaries and finals, a total of nine teams (or individuals) will be selected to receive awards including the Minister of Science and ICT Award (2 awards), the Korea Internet & Security Agency President Award (7 awards), and a cash prize.
The competition categories are divided into three types: ▲(AI field) AI-based PowerShell malicious script detection ▲(Big Data field) Incident Threat Hunting ▲(Idea contest) AI and Big Data utilization idea contest.
Hong Jin-bae, Director of Information Security Network Policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, “The use of digital intelligence technologies such as AI and big data is becoming increasingly important in the cybersecurity field. We hope this competition will serve as a platform to discover cybersecurity experts and expand the base for intelligent security new technologies and ideas utilizing AI and big data.”
An online pre-briefing session will be held on September 3rd at 14:00 to help prospective participants understand the competition. Detailed information on registration and schedule can be found on the competition website.
