A total of 131 Shade Shelters Operated Locally... Old Chairs to Be Replaced to Prevent Safety Accidents
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) installed six additional smart shade shelters in the area on the 25th.
The additional installation locations were selected based on ▲vulnerable areas within the heat distribution map ▲areas lacking natural shade ▲areas with high demand, totaling six sites. Administratively, these include ▲Junggok 3-dong ▲Guui 1 and 2-dong ▲Gwangjang-dong ▲Jayang 1 and 3-dong.
With this additional installation, the total number of shade shelters in Gwangjin-gu has increased to 131, which is expected to enhance residents' sense of safety.
In June 2019, the district was the first in Seoul to install smart shade shelters combining Internet of Things (IoT) and solar power technology. These smart shade shelters automatically open and close the canopy according to temperature and wind conditions, allowing for quick response and reducing manpower waste.
Additionally, by early September, the district plans to replace and newly install 33 safety chairs inside the shade shelters with materials that are less prone to rust and tampering, aiming to prevent safety accidents, improve the appearance of facilities, and enhance residents' convenience.
Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “Although the midsummer heat has passed, I am pleased that the additional installation of smart shade shelters will increase resting places for residents. We will continue to promote various community-oriented projects considering residents' convenience and sense of safety.”
