Dangjin Sinpyeong High School Wins Spring Tournament Championship
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The 2021 Spring National High School Soccer Tournament, a cradle of promising high school soccer players, concluded its 14-day journey with Sinpyeong High School's victory.
Hosted by the Korea Football Association and organized by the Gyeongnam Football Association and Hapcheon County Football Association, this tournament featured 52 teams nationwide, all showcasing their honed skills without reservation.
In the final match between Sinpyeong High School and Gwacheon High School, broadcast live on YouTube on the 29th, Sinpyeong High School won 5-1. Sinpyeong took the lead with Seo Jae-won's multi-goals, ending the first half ahead 2-1. The second half remained tense until Sinpyeong scored consecutive goals at the 12th, 15th, and 24th minutes, securing their first national tournament championship.
The Most Valuable Player award went to Sinpyeong High School’s Choi Seon-woo. The Outstanding Player award was given to Gwacheon High School’s Kim Min-jun, the Top Scorer award to Yeongdeungpo Technical High School’s Choi Hee-soo, the Offensive Player award to Sinpyeong High School’s Yoon Hwi-sang, and the Defensive Player award to Gwacheon High School’s Kim Young-jae.
Moon Jun-hee, mayor of Hapcheon County, said, "It is fortunate that the two consecutive national tournaments were successfully completed without any confirmed cases," adding, "We will use this tournament as a model to safely conduct upcoming competitions and winter training camps."
