[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] The story of three men who fled without paying their taxi fare upon arrival at their destination and even taunted the taxi driver has been revealed, sparking public outrage online.

On the 23rd, a post titled "Please pay attention to and help with the taxi fare evasion case" was uploaded on an online community. The author, A, who identified themselves as the child of the victimized taxi driver, explained the purpose of the post, saying, "I am reporting this to prevent other drivers from suffering the same fate."

According to the post, A’s father picked up three men around 5:30 a.m. on the 20th at Yeoksam Station, heading toward Ilsan. Upon reaching their destination, the men exchanged glances as if deciding whether to pay the fare but then fled without paying. A’s father, startled, chased after them but was blocked by the apartment entrance door.

A said, "The three men smiled slyly at my father from inside the entrance," and emphasized, "Since a detective mentioned that similar incidents are frequently reported, this is not something to just accept and move on from; I want to make sure the world knows about this."

Furthermore, A appealed, "The case has been reported to the police, and if they are not caught, I plan to disclose the name and building number of the apartment where these tattoo-covered individuals entered," urging, "Please punish those who commit such bad acts to prevent recurrence."

Meanwhile, the taxi driver who suffered the fare evasion immediately reported the incident to 112, and with the help of their child, handed over the black box footage to the police.

Netizens responded with comments such as, "Catching them seems like just a matter of time, but the punishment is too lenient," "Please comfort your father a lot," "This should be treated as fraud, not just fare evasion," and "They have money for tattoos but not for taxi fare?"
