[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, has started operating the 'ICLC Promotional Train' ahead of the 5th UNESCO International Conference on Learning Cities (ICLC) to be held in Songdo this October.
According to the district on the 27th, the advertising boards installed on the first train (8-car formation) of Incheon Subway Line 1 (Gyeyang~Songdo Dalbit Festival Park) will be used to decorate the entire train with ICLC promotional messages.
Since about 400,000 people use Incheon Line 1 daily, Yeonsu-gu expects the ICLC dedicated promotional train to play a significant role not only in promoting the event but also in enhancing citizens' pride.
The promotional train, consisting of 8 cars, will be divided into ICLC and Global Citizenship Festival theme zones, decorating 284 advertising panels with various promotional phrases.
In particular, to reduce the stereotype that learning and education-related international events are heavy and boring, the train is designed to increase interest and participation not only in the main event but also in the linked Global Citizenship Festival.
Following the bus wrapping promotion that has been operating since last month, this ICLC promotional train will run five round trips daily from Gyeyang Station to Songdo Dalbit Festival Park Station until the end of October when the event concludes.
The 5th ICLC, held from October 27 to 30 around Songdo Convensia, is a representative international event in the field of lifelong learning held every two years around the continents of the globe, hosted by UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL).
Representatives from 193 UNESCO member countries, 229 GNLC member cities from 64 countries, and domestic lifelong learning city representatives will attend.
Gonam-seok, Mayor of Yeonsu-gu, said, "Through the promotional train, we hope to easily convey the purpose and significance of the 5th ICLC and for citizens to recognize it as a lifelong learning festival that the whole family can enjoy together. As this is an unprecedented international event hosted by a basic local government, we ask for much interest and support to ensure the event concludes successfully."
