Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival to Be Held Online Again This Year... 1st Lineup Announced Panorama of the Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival venue.

[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The 16th '2021 Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival' will be held online for two days from October 9 to 10.

Incheon Metropolitan City and Incheon Tourism Organization announced on the 26th that the Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival, which has maintained its reputation as a music festival despite the COVID-19 crisis, will be held online again this year following last year.

Since its first event in 2006 until 2017, Incheon Pentaport has upheld its pride as South Korea's largest outdoor rock festival. It has been selected as a cultural tourism festival by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for 10 consecutive years from 2012 to 2021, making it a representative music festival. Approximately 1,200 domestic and international musician teams have performed, with a cumulative audience of 800,000 people.

This year's performances will feature various non-face-to-face programs such as 360-degree virtual reality (VR) broadcasting and commentary by music experts to deliver a vivid sense of presence to the online audience. The lineup will be centered on top-tier domestic artists, and considering the difficulty of overseas artists entering the country, pre-recorded performance videos from their locations will be broadcast.

The first lineup includes Lee Seunghwan, Yoon Sang, 10CM, DAYBREAK, Jeokjae, ADOY, The Volunteers, LEENALCHI, N.Flying, Jung Hongil, Kim Sawol, Method, Silica Gel, and Nerd Connection. Overseas performers will be announced later.

Last year, the first online festival was held due to COVID-19, with a total of 780,000 viewers connecting to enjoy the festival together. In particular, the audience enjoyed the festival in their own way by responding through online chat as if they were at the Pentaport site, saying things like "Let's go slam together soon," "As expected, Pentaport has kimchi noodles," and "It's so hot, please give me some water."

A festival official said, "We hoped to hold an on-site performance with an audience cheering in front of the stage this year, but it will be held non-face-to-face again following last year," adding, "We hope to continue the reputation as a representative music festival through new and rich programs and to somewhat relieve the cultural thirst of citizens who are tired and struggling due to COVID-19."
