[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Former Minister of Justice and Democratic Party presidential candidate Chu Mi-ae said on the 24th that Busan National University’s decision to cancel the admission of Cho Min, daughter of former Minister Cho Kuk, to the medical school was "a very regrettable and difficult-to-understand decision."

Former Minister Chu stated this on her social media (SNS) on the same day, saying, "Busan National University has made a decision to cancel the admission of Ms. Cho Min."

She added, "Despite the Public Official Election Commission’s conclusion that 'the submitted documents did not affect the acceptance,' the decision was made even before the Supreme Court’s final ruling."

She continued, "Busan National University cited the 2015 admission guidelines as the basis, but whether it is confirmed as a 'fraudulent method' should ultimately be determined by the Supreme Court’s final judgment."

She also pointed out, "Even if it is a preliminary administrative procedure, it is a decision that inflicts irreversible damage on a person," and questioned, "I cannot help but ask whether this was done too hastily following the current trend."

Former Minister Chu added, "Why should the 'presumption of innocence' principle only apply to Ms. Cho Min up to the second trial?"

Earlier, Busan National University announced the cancellation of Cho Min’s admission in the afternoon, citing the 2015 admission guidelines and stating, "If the information on the submitted documents is found to be false, the applicant will be disqualified."

The announcement by Busan National University is a preliminary administrative disposition under the Administrative Procedures Act, and the final disposition will be confirmed after a hearing process.
