Cancellation of Cho Min's Medical School Admission, Opposition Presidential Candidates Say "Justice Prevails"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Bo-ryeong] Opposition presidential candidates have described the decision to cancel Cho Min’s admission to the Pusan National University School of Medicine, the daughter of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, as "justice served."

On the 24th, Choi Jae-hyung, a presidential candidate from the People Power Party and former head of the Board of Audit and Inspection, stated on Facebook, "Justice served," adding, "I hope that many things that were distorted under the Moon Jae-in administration will return to their rightful place. I will make sure this happens through a change of government." Choi also added hashtags such as 'fairness' and 'restoration.' Earlier, Pusan National University made the decision to cancel Cho’s admission to the medical school based on the results of the Admission Fairness Management Committee held that day.

Assemblyman Ha Tae-kyung also described it as "belated but justice served." He added, "Former Minister Cho caused great deprivation to the youth of our time through serious illegal acts and ruined his child’s life as well," and criticized, "However, there is no sign of remorse or apology anywhere."

Ha directed his remarks at former Minister Cho, saying, "He is only busy making excuses by citing strange logic. Before qualifying as a scholar and politician, he lacks the basic dignity as a human being," and urged, "Former Minister Cho should stop his disgraceful behavior, cut off social media, and prostrate himself before the people in sincere apology."

Another presidential candidate, Assemblyman Park Jin, also said, "It’s late, but justice served," emphasizing, "I will work hard so that the fairness damaged and the justice broken by the Cho Kuk incident can be restored as soon as possible."

Former Assemblyman Yoo Seung-min also wrote on Facebook, "The cancellation of former Minister Cho’s daughter’s admission to Pusan National University’s medical school is belated, but it shows that truth ultimately prevails," criticizing, "The illegalities and corruption of the Moon Jae-in government are being revealed one by one, like peeling an onion."

Yoo further stated, "Korea University should also promptly decide to cancel the admission," and added, "The Ulsan mayoral election fraud case, the Optimus and Lime financial fraud cases, and the economic feasibility manipulation of the Wolseong Unit 1 nuclear reactor case will all eventually have their truths revealed and face legal judgment."
