President Moon Makes Secretary-Level Personnel Changes... Kang Kwon-chan Appointed as Secretary for Citizen Participation (Comprehensive)

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] President Moon Jae-in made personnel appointments at the secretary level in the Blue House on the 24th.


Kang Kwon-chan, Senior Administrative Officer of the Planning Secretary Office, was appointed as Secretary for Citizen Participation; Kim Jeong-hoe, Director of the Trade Negotiation Office at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, was appointed as Secretary for New Southern and New Northern Policies; and Kim I-tak, Standing Member of the Central Land Acquisition Committee at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, was appointed as Secretary for Land, Infrastructure and Transport.


Kang Kwon-chan, born in 1974, graduated from Seogwipo High School and earned a bachelor's and a doctoral degree in Political Science and Diplomacy from Korea University. He previously served as Senior Administrative Officer at the Office for Government Policy Coordination in the Presidential Secretariat.


Kim Jeong-hoe, born in 1971, graduated from Daesung High School in Seoul and majored in Economics at Seoul National University. He holds a master's degree in Law from Boston University in the United States. A 37th pass of the Korean Civil Service Exam, he has served as Director of the Americas Trade Division, Director of the Automobile and Shipbuilding Division, Director of Industrial Technology Convergence Policy, and Director of Resource Industry Policy at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

Kim I-tak, born in 1969, graduated from Gwangseong High School in Seoul and majored in Economics at Seoul National University. A 36th pass of the Korean Civil Service Exam, he was dispatched to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and has served as Director of the Housing Policy Division, Director of the Housing Maintenance Division, Director of the Housing Construction Supply Division, Aviation Policy Officer, Head of the Urban Regeneration Project Planning Group, and Policy Planning Officer at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.


Park Kyung-mi, spokesperson for the Blue House, stated, "The new secretaries are individuals who have accumulated experience and expertise in the Blue House and government ministries. They have a good understanding of the government's national philosophy and have handled key issues in their respective fields. They will faithfully carry out the roles and responsibilities assigned to each secretary office going forward."

The effective date of the appointments is the 25th.
