[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province announced on the 24th that it will hold a nationwide photo contest themed around regional symbols such as the provincial tree 'Pine Tree', the provincial flower 'Chrysanthemum', and the provincial bird 'Black Kite'.
The photo exhibition is held to increase nationwide awareness and interest in these symbols, which were selected in 2019.
The contest will be open to all citizens nationwide (including foreigners) from the 26th of this month to the 14th of next month.
The province plans to form a judging committee to evaluate the submitted works based on criteria such as ▲the degree to which the symbolism and beauty of the symbols are highlighted ▲artistic expression and creativity in depicting the symbols ▲potential for promotional use.
Subsequently, one Grand Prize winner, one Excellence Prize winner, two Encouragement Prize winners, and seven Honorable Mentions will be selected. The Grand Prize will receive 2 million KRW, the Excellence Prize 1.5 million KRW, the Encouragement Prize 1 million KRW, and the Honorable Mentions 500,000 KRW each, with a total prize money of 20 million KRW awarded.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held along with an exhibition during the Residents' Day event on October 5th.
Meanwhile, the Chungnam symbols were newly selected in 2019 through online and offline surveys targeting residents and a symbol improvement selection committee.
