LG Uplus Launches Second Version of Clova Clock+
Support Expanded to Home Appliances, Robot Vacuum Cleaners, and Fans
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] The second version of the smart home speaker 'Clova Clock+' which sold over 750,000 units within one year of its launch last year is coming out.
LG Uplus and Naver announced on the 24th that they will release 'Clova Clock+2' on the 25th, featuring significantly enhanced AI remote control functions. Clova Clock+2 is an LED clock-type AI speaker based on Naver's AI platform 'Clova'.
With the enhanced AI remote control function, old home appliances that could only be operated via IR (infrared) remote controls can now be controlled by voice commands or smartphones through the AI speaker's IR sensor without individual remotes. The supported appliances have expanded from 4 types including TV, set-top box, air conditioner, and air purifier to a total of 6 types including robot vacuum cleaners and fans.
It is also possible to create remotes that can operate other devices. For example, by teaching the IR signal of an old humidifier remote to Clova Clock+2 and registering the remote directly in the app, users can control it via voice commands and the smartphone app. This allows the AI speaker to be used more broadly for smart home control.
It also features a Wi-Fi hotspot function that receives signals from the main Wi-Fi router (AP) to extend coverage over a wider area. A new ‘Today Pick’ service has been introduced, which daily recommends various functions (commands) ranging from smart home control to music, weather, and kids-related information searches.
Service applications are available at LG Uplus stores nationwide, the official online mall U+ Shop, and customer centers.
