Choi Jae-hyung "Yoon Seok-yeol, State Your Position Directly"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's campaign dismissed on the 21st the media reports stating that "the People Power Party is considering a provisional emergency committee system instead of the current leadership under Representative Lee Jun-seok" as "absurd false reports and fake news."
Kim Byung-min, spokesperson for Yoon's campaign, stated this and announced that they are "considering legal action against the Sunday Newspaper, which published the report."
Earlier, the Sunday Newspaper reported that a scenario for party management centered on candidates, with a primary election conducted under an emergency committee system rather than the Lee Jun-seok leadership, was being discussed mainly among pro-Yoon Seok-yeol lawmakers.
Another presidential candidate, former Board of Audit and Inspection Chairman Choi Jae-hyung, also posted on Facebook the day before, saying, "The old-fashioned politics that shakes a young leader elected by the people and party members with political engineering, and the self-destructive politics that ignore the people's desire for change in the People Power Party, inevitably lead to defeat in the presidential election." He added, "Candidate Yoon Seok-yeol should no longer hide behind the campaign and remain silent. He must clearly state that it is not true that he is considering the emergency committee card and that he respects Representative Lee Jun-seok's leadership."
In response, spokesperson Kim expressed regret toward candidate Choi Jae-hyung, who "used fake news to launch a political offensive," and said, "I hope that baseless political attacks will not betray the hopes of the people and party members who long for a change of government."
